Energy efficiency projects saving £13,623

Set in the picturesque Vale of York, Pike Hills is the golfers dream. Over 6,000 yards of tree lined fairways make the course an enjoyable challenge for all levels of golfer. Originally dating back to 1946 the clubhouse has been extended and developed over the years and now boasts a well stocked pro shop, bar, restaurant and changing facilities. The building is in daily use from first light to past 11pm virtually everyday of the year with golfers seeking a comfortable respite from the often inclement Yorkshire climate.

Energy efficiency gains of 300%

During our consultant’s initial audit of the club’s electricity contract and invoicing an early win was made. As a charity the club is exempt from VAT, yet over the years it had incorrectly been added to their invoices. We arranged a sizeable rebate.

On inspection of the site the engineers quickly identified the clubhouse and driving range as the main sources of energy inefficiency. Transition to LED alone is set to reduce CO2 emissions by 3t. Although not ideally situated for a Solar PV array a structural solution was developed and this again will cut carbon emissions by a substantial 10t a year. The package included a finance plan which along side the projected long term cost savings provides for a positive cashflow by the end of the first operational quarter.
